Word just came thru from an AMTRAK employee of a possible derailment of the engine on train 55 VERMONTER southbound near ROXBURY, VERMONT.  No word on any reported  injuries.

SEVERAL NEWS SOURCES have confirmed with VERMONT STATE POLICE that the derailment did occur.  Some reports say ALL CARS ARE DERAILED.  Still no word on injuries.  Accident took place in NORTHFIELD VERMONT, between Burlington and White River JCT.  As of 11 30 am. 

Does Amtrak Carry Occupied Caskets?--Video

While changing trains in Albany New York recently, a fellow passenger said there were caskets in the baggage car of our train...being transferred to another train enroute eventually to LAX.  Does anyone know if Amtrak carrries occupied caskets?  Here is the video.

Spotted the LSL going thru Worcester, Mass tonite, May 25.  noticed that the dining car, which is usually the LAST car, was first behind the baggage car and that there was no sleeping car.  Anyone know the story?

NEW VIEWLINER BAGGAGE CARS

Just caught the LAKE SHORE LIMITED coming thru town and it had the new VIEWLINER BAGGAGE CAR.....what a difference.  It stuck out like a sore thumb from all of the other cars on this train that was captured in Worcester, Massachusetts on the night before Easter.

Here is the LAKE SHORE LIMITED as it rolled into Worcester, MA, two hours late on Sunday, FEB 22.  We are presuming that the extra power is from a train that arrived in Boston eight hours late a few days earlier and did not operate the next day.

Snow has been hammering New England for two weeks with more coming.  it has had a several impact on train travel.  Much of the Boston subway trains are in disrepair.  Here is a short look.

Snow has been pummeling New England for TWO consecutive weeks, with no temps reaching over 32 degrees.  Thus the show has kept piling up and not melting on rail equipment.  Here is a brief look at the scene just outside of Boston.

Here is the new route of the Amtrak Vermonter.  It now serves Greenfield and Northampton, MA. Speeds up to 79 mph.
