Amtrak in Mansfield, MA.  Three trains in ten minutes.  A triple header...all over 125 MPH!

AMTRAK TRIPLE HEADER IN BOSTON, AREA

If you arrive at Mansfield, MA at 7 pm on weeknights, you can see THREE Amtrak trains, one Southbound and two Northbound. On this particular night, the second Northbound train passed an MBTA train that was heading to Providence. Hope you enjoy!

Has a wide variety of ride options including scenic ride or rides with elegant food service.

MAINE EASTERN RAILROAD

One of America's Greatest Tourist trains is the Maine Eastern Railroad. It runs from Brunswick Maine to Rockland Maine. Soon, Amtrak will be extending north from Portland to Brunswick, where you can connect with Rockland. It will make for a great day trip!

Amtraks DOWNEASTER Back at full speed!

After a fatal collision last week, the Downeaster from Portland, Maine to Boston is back running at full speed. Here is a SOUTHbound train, then a NORTHBOUND train. Notice that the southbound train is one car shorter than its northbound counterpart!

DINNER TRAIN in New Hampshire....The BEST ever!

Was RVing in New Hampshire and spotted a brochure for a dinner train. Found this place to be right off the interstate highway. Included some of the best food anywhere and certainly the best food ever on a tourist train. The owners even allow RVers to overnight in their lighted parking lot after their ride. We really enjoyed it and think you will to. ALLLLLLLLLLLL ABOARD!

Had a fun day checking out the planes flying in and out of the jetport and the Amtrak train heading to Boston as well as the narrow gauge railroad.

Is this the Future AMTRAK power?

Noticed this new loco at the Worcester, Ma yard of the MBTA after this trainset had finished its day's work. Is this the future of AMTRAK power. It was made in Iowa, as one can read from the side of the train.

Note the exhaust that has marred the paint on the front of the train right above the windows. This train travels in both directions, so on the inbound runs to Boston, the engine is in the rear. The smoke does not rise high enough and it has smeared the paint. Is this a design flaw?

FASCINATING RAILROAD BRIDGE...Still in operation

Been to Cape Cod, Massachusetts? If so, you have probably seen this bridge and had no idea what it did. Its a functioning railroad bridge. Here is some video of it. Enjoy!

New T locomotive in Worcester

Here is the new T locomotive as it sat in  the yard on Shrewsbury Street, Worcester.  Wish I was able to get a better angle.  It will  probably be used on the Boston run on Tuesday.
