Word just came thru from an AMTRAK employee of a possible derailment of the engine on train 55 VERMONTER southbound near ROXBURY, VERMONT. No word on any reported injuries.

SEVERAL NEWS SOURCES have confirmed with VERMONT STATE POLICE that the derailment did occur. Some reports say ALL CARS ARE DERAILED. Still no word on injuries. Accident took place in NORTHFIELD VERMONT, between Burlington and White River JCT. As of 11 30 am.
Why are irresponsible new media outlets using this "AMTRAK SPEEDING" screaming headline banner when there is absolutely nothing to support this claim.
ReplyDeleteBased in preliminary reports there was an rock slide that deposited numerous large rocks on the tracks and probably in an area of curved track.
Apparently the 2 passenger cars that went over an embankment were UNOCCUPIED except for a single Amtrak employee.
Further reports are of 5 injuries and no fatalities.
Meanwhile 32,000+ highway fatalities occurred in 2013 (last year of available statistics) and the news media never even bats and eye lash. Don't suppose all that auto advertising money thrown at tv and print media have any influence???
